home inspector issue PLEASE HELP what is my next step?

Question by : home inspector issue PLEASE HELP what is my next step?
Our home inspector said the statement “mold has never killed anyone” he said he gets woman worrying all the time and he tells them this, as he has told us. he said you can be alergic to it, and it is best to clean it out, but he point blank said it has never been responsible for a death. he also said that hiring a specialist to get mold removed in our case would be a waste of money and to just do it ourselves. he gave us no info on how to do it, where the mold might be (in the walls? ac unit? ducts? etc?) he just said to open the walls and wipe it out with hot soapy water. no further info. he gathered this info just from seeing a little mold from a hole in the wall, if the hole was not there who knows if he would have even seen it, and we specifically requested him to check for mold. I called a mold specialist and checked on this, and they said that that statement he made about mold not ever killing anyone is false. he saw that we had a young child also, to make matters worse. he said it is not a major cause for concern, and since no one lives in the house yet it will be easy to remove it without worrying about our furniture and home stuff. the biggest thing that gets me is his false statement. now I want to know how I can either sue this guy, get him stripped of his licence so he cannot steer more families wrong, or both. someone PLEASE help me know how to report this kind of thing. google is of no help, I searched.

also must add that he said that a lot of companies that do mold inspection and removal are scams, and just want money from you and they make a little thing seem like a big deal. he said there is no toxic mold. said it would be a waste of money and better to just do it ourselves. he himself IS a mold inspector and home inspector. I don’t understand this. when I asked about asbestos he said it is in all walls and baseboards, especially more so in older ones. he said it can make your lungs bleed, which confused me because he said it is in every home. he was unclear and gave no further info on how to know if your home has dangerous levels of asbestos. he made light of the whole toxic substance topic.
and he did not mention asbestos at all, I had to ask about it
No I did not use my realtors guy, and even the realtor didn’t really like the guy. He’s genuine, and on our side.

Where did I mention it cost 300? I said that on another website I beleive, but not here…. or maybe I did and missed it..

Who recommended this home inspector.
I bet you a million dollars it was either a banker or a realtor that wanted to make a sale.
Yes, you can wipe off mold with a little bleach water and soap. But if you state it’s in the walls, you have serious issues. In my rental it just accumulated around the windows and the bathtub.

    What is your question?

Do you really need someone to tell you NOT to purchase this house because of the mold and asbestos? AVOID this house, unless you REALLY want it and get the seller to AGREE to pay for removing the asbestos and mold before you purchase it.

In the end, I would just move on. There’s plenty of houses out there.

I believe you are expecting far too much detail and service for the $ 300 or so you paid for that inspection. If you want a detailed mold analysis, hire an expert. If you want a detailed asbestos analysis, hire another expert.

Inspectors give you a very basic evaluation of the subject property. Be prepared to pay $ 50 per hour and up for experts in each area that you want greater detail.

    OK. Straight talk:
    1. Most molds are harmless to people, but there are some toxic molds,
and some few people, allergic to mold spores, can be harmed
    by the ‘harmless’ ones.
It takes an expert to identify mold types.

    2. Yes there have been a few, very rare, deaths.
(‘Chance of being hit by lightning’ few.)

    3. The presence of mold indicates the presence of persistent moisture inside
the structure. Mold growing on wood does eventually weaken it.
If you’re considering buying the building, then eliminating the source
of that moisture first, THEN getting rid of the mold becomes a concern.
Don’t ‘buy the problem’ unless you can solve it.

“There are about ten things that can go seriously wrong with a building,
and about 15 of them have to do with water”.
