Question by mediocre_bassist: is there any legal restrictions on “last minute debt” which is not dischargeable by bankruptcy?
it seems to me that if a person knew they were going to have to file bankruptcy, a decision which isn’t made overnight, they could conceivably intentionally overdraft their bank account, take out payday loans, etc, seemingly without consequence…

is there in legal protection against this sort of thing?

(save the opinions about the ethics of this sort of thing, I need a factual legal answer)

That would be bankruptcy fraud. It would be instantly detected and the perpetrator would end up in federal prison.

I got a letter and a check in the mail for $ 258.90 from the United States Court Settlement Administrator. It appears to be a real check..no “NOT A CHECK” written on it anywhere. It requires positive ID to cash it says on the back.
The letter explains that money was deducted from my account thru a telemarketing scandal. I vaguely remember speaking to the telemarketing company in question…

The letter also gave a phone number. It says “please call if you have questions about the legitimacy of this check” I called it and listened to the automated message it explained that these people were being brought to court and when/where it was happening I could go if I wanted.
I do not have to call anyone..give any info to anyone….or do anything. it says “you should cash/deposit this check. the money is yours”
It also gives me a form to refund any bank fees incurred…which I’m not going to bother with.
On monday I’m going to bring it to my bank and verify it being a real check and all that….
I don’t want to get excited …as I’m having a really rough time with christmas and all….and this would be a real “christmas miracle” lol…so
What do you think? Do you think its real?

btw it says it was in 2006 in march…I don’t recall the money being taken out. BUT it was right around the time I received my income tax check..and was making alot of purchases with my debit card…so thats why I might not have noticed.
no they aren’t asking me to send money anywhere.
I don’t need to contact anyone at all…just cash the check. It doesn’t even say I have to deposit it…just cash.

Smells like a scam to me. Are they asking you to wire any money somewhere? Definite sign of a scam.

When you go to the bank, take that letter with you and show it to the teller.

I think partition magic has an “undo” function.

A friend of mine is trying to convince me to get involved what I can see as a network marketing scheme selling two health products, Sleepees and Skinees.

In my cursory due dilegence, I evaluated the company’s website (http://ourworldnetwork.com). Founding that 99% of the site’s content refers to its marketing program and 1% (if even that) is on the product is a bit disconcerning consider this is a health product.

The product description is a mere mention of its “natural, harmless” non-addictive ingredients. That’s all. No independent medical reports, no testing, no government approvals.

So I like to hear back from people and especially medical folks that have heard about this product. Is this a marketing scam or does this stuff work?

I’ve never heard of this product, but any reputable company would supply the benefit/risks/side effects of its product in public view, I believe that is the law.

The store didn’t have my usual hot peppers, so I got these poblano peppers instead. I got two of them, and am unsure if I should use both (not sure of how hot they are) and how to prepare them.

Everything I have read on the internet says to peel them first, is this necessary?

I normally just pan fry the hot peppers before putting them in the chili. Should I do the same with the poblano peppers?

Your right, in Texas it’s 18%. It varies by State, like in Oklahoma it’s 21% and in Iowa it’s 27%.

a few weeks depending on how much you get at a time. It also depends on what you get if it hurts or not. The boobs will probably hurt to move around at first but over about 4 weeks you should be better. the face might be tough to talk or eat, but if you get all of it at once I would say 2 months to be sure.
